Airport Information
There are three major airports in the capitol region. All three are within 34 miles of Washington, D.C. Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) is located in Linthicum, Maryland, 10 miles south of downtown Baltimore and 30 miles northeast of Washington. Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is in Herndon, Virginia, 25 miles west of Washington, D.C. By far the most convenient airport for Washington visitors is Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), which is right on the Potomac River near Arlington National Cemetery. National Airport is a regional airport, but it doesn't offer international flights, except to and from Canada.

Ground Transportation
Limousines, shuttle vans and taxis will take you between downtown Washington and all three airports. The fast and frequent Metro serves Reagan Washington National Airport directly, and shuttles connect Dulles Airport with Metro stations. The Amtrak train service is available between Baltimore-Washington Airport and Washington.

Taxi
Taxis are a viable option for short trips (especially if you share cabs), and they're a good way to avoid city parking hassles. Taxi service from the local airports to the Club Quarters in Washington, D.C. will cost as follows:

Train
Washington's modern, efficient MetroRail subway system is excellent. It provides services throughout the city and outlying communities. Commuter trains service downtown D.C. from the Maryland and Virginia suburbs. The Club Quarters Hotel is conveniently located in a high-rise above the Farragut West MetroRail stop located on the Orange or Blue line.

Tipping
Washington D.C., like many US cities, is a tipping town. On average, 15-20 percent is the standard tip at restaurants, 10-15 percent to cabbies for a taxi ride, a minimum of US$1 (or 15 percent per round) to the bartender for your drinks, US$1 to the porter for bags and US$2 to the valet for parking your car.
